I have enrolled in South Plains College for photography classes in spring '09
I will be taking 6 in-campus credit hours and 3 credit hours with an online course. I try to test if I can handle my biological rhythm by going to class at 7 am for 2 days and work full time at the hospital during the night shift. Its very challenging but do-able. If I can handle it maybe I can enroll for 12 units next sem.

I will solely pay for my tuition, no grants or loans and it will be a big step for me.

The class starts in January 20th, I'm very excited! My goal is to set up a small studio inside my office/my old brothers room. I know it's kind of tacky but who cares! My parents are all for it, they are even willing to help me with my equipment when I'm ready.

Gosh! I am soOo ecstatic and I proudly answer my co-workers that I'm not going to get my BSN but I'm making a slight turn to pursue Photography and Surprisingly, they support me.

Wish me Luck!

Workshop

so, I ended up postponing going to covenant school for RN application process... i will do it next time. =)

Anyway, I talked to my mom today and she is really reluctant about the Hallmark Program. She said it's just not practical, The total tuition costs is like paying for 3 brand new cars or a house.. which is true!

I told her about workshops in santa fe and she approved it.

I found a class that I wanted to attend in February, it's mainly about lighting in Location portraiture, It's a week long and it will roughly costs me $1800 to attend with accomodations and meals included. The only challenge for me is to drive there. I have never driven anywhere that far but i'm sure i can handle it.

I will call to check if there is still openings for the workshop and I will register sometime tomorrow.

MOnday

So, My plan is to go apply at 2 schools on monday. One is to Texas tech university for their Photography Program. I think there is nothing to loose since I already live here and I don't have to worry about a place to live if I got accepted but since I won't be leaving lubbock I should just find something around here that would inspire besides dirt, hay and train tracks.

Second, I will apply again to Covenant school of nursing, I was thinking maybe If i give it one more chance, I would finally get in the RN program.

Massachusetts is still in my mind but it's just not practical.. i think...

I found another disappointing thing about MA, they are not included in Compact states for license. So if I decided to go pursue hallmark, I have to find a decent job to pay the bills and for the tuition.

hmmm...

I'm currently reading a book right now, maybe it will inspire a lil bit.

My goal

I am currently working as an LVN. it is a very glorified occupation. It's very challenging but nerve wracking. I deal with people in every type, shape or position. I help patients to get well, be their friend, their sister and even their psychiatrist. i saw people heal not thru medications but by faith, I saw and felt all the emotions that I can think of. Everyone says it's a remarkable job to take care of people, its honorable even. They say it's a secure job.
HOnestly, I have only been a nurse for 7 months and the excitement starting to wear off. I am 24 years old and i think nursing is not for me.

2 nights ago at work, it was one of the usual bus nights/short staffed/ full census kind of night. I work the night shift in a chf/ccu floor, I have 5 patients which is the maximum amount of patients that you could possibly handle. i was doing my medication rounds and an admit comes for my coworker. It is a tradition in our floor for all of the nurses to help out with the admissions so every paper work will be filled out faster and organized.

I was getting his patient situated and hooking him to heart monitor, checking his vital signs while thinking about my own patients and what it needs to taken care of for them. The admission patient suddenly asked me " do you love your job?" I was taken aback, didn't say anything but nod and faked a smile.

I was thinking to myself, is it getting obvious? Do i really love my job? Did i look sad or pissed off while I'm putting a bp cuff or a pulse ox sensor to this patient? Or is it a sign? I am not asking for a sign from God but I am asking God what my purpose in life is. Do you think God asked me that question?

I have been battling of which path to take. The first path is what I call my "comfort path", where I will go pursue my R.N. degree. I have all my pre-reqs done All I need is to take a test and see if I get in the program. Which I have tried twice but failed before I finally decided to try LVN school. My mom is a nurse too, she is pretty popular at the hospital and everyone loves here, she had never forced me to take nursing or get my RN degree. But her and my dad are willing to pay for my tuition if i decided to go. Everyone asking if will i ever go back to get my degree? Some people don't even have to ask they just tell that I should go. It's the right thing to do. I am doing the job anyway might as well get highly paid with doing it as well. I will regain more respect and knowledge of this skill.

Then there the second path my "creative path". I want to study photography, I always google photography workshops, photography schools and conferences. I love expressing my emotions thru the lens, to be in my own zone. I am me in photography world not under my mom's shadow. I am not being compared to anyone.

There's a photography school that I really want to go to. It's Hallmark Institute of Photography, It's located in Massachusetts and their program is what I dreame of attending. It's a 10 month course but its intensive and I think I would love it! The problem is or may I say are... Massachusetts is freaking far away from Texas where I currently live. I don't know anyone there and compared to here that I still live with my Parents. I don't have the money to pay $57k tuition and I do not want to leave my boyfriend behind.

I am young, naive, I dreamt of living on my own but living on my own a few hundred miles away seems scary to me but exciting at the same time. I am giving myself til december to think what i really wanted to do. for now i will just type in my thoughts and see if it the "message" would be clearer.
